EVENT: A New Era for Women’s Cycling – A Bex Rimmington Workshop

On the evening of Thursday 28th November, we’ll be hosting British Cycling’s very own Bex Rimmington, a distinguished ambassador for women’s cycling. Bex will lead an interactive workshop from 7 pm to 10 pm, designed to empower and educate the cycling community on the unique needs of female riders. This event is part of our new Girls Ambassador Programme, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at supporting, educating, and inspiring young female cyclists and those who support them. Bex Rimmington brings a wealth of experience and passion to the table, not only as an elite female cyclist but also as an advocate for women in cycling. She’s part of a select team chosen as ambassadors by British Cycling, each dedicated to sharing knowledge and building confidence among women cyclists. Together, they lead workshops that address challenges female riders often face – from bra fitting and choosing the right kit, to understanding the menstrual cycle, RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport), and how these topics intersect with a female athlete’s health, performance, and overall well-being. The interactive workshop will be an invaluable opportunity for all attendees.

Bex Rimmington

Bex will offer unique insights from her journey in the sport, focusing on the critical support structures young female athletes need to thrive. Her session will delve into practical advice and open up conversations around often-overlooked topics. These discussions will benefit everyone – from parents and coaches to volunteers and fellow cyclists, helping build an informed and supportive environment for young female athletes.

This event is especially exciting because it reflects the larger mission of our Girls Ambassador Programme, which we proudly launched this summer. Through this program, British Cycling appointed ten exceptional women from across the UK to serve as Girls Ambassadors. Their goal? To bridge gaps in knowledge and provide female-focused guidance in cycling. With a particular focus on topics like menstrual health, RED-S, and specialised equipment, the Girls Ambassador Programme is making strides in raising awareness and promoting understanding within the sport. In addition to in-person events like this workshop, the Girls Ambassadors also partnered with WELL HQ to create an online learning course called ‘Supporting Female Riders – Adolescence into Early Adulthood.’

This course has been instrumental in opening up conversations on subjects that impact young female riders’ athletic journeys. By addressing issues specific to female health and development, the course and the in-person events aim to make a lasting impact on how female cyclists are supported at every level of their training and competition. Whether you’re a cyclist, a parent, a coach, or someone keen to learn more about supporting female athletes, we invite you to be a part of this inspiring initiative. Join us in our commitment to create an inclusive, informed, and supportive cycling community where young women can thrive and reach their potential. This event is more than a workshop; it’s a step towards building a stronger foundation for women’s cycling.

Entry to the event is FREE but spaces are limited, so make sure to book your spot early. Don’t miss this chance to hear from Bex Rimmington and become part of a movement that’s changing the future of women’s cycling. Let’s work together to empower the next generation of female cyclists and ensure that every rider feels supported, understood, and ready to ride confidently.
