Schools out for Summer in Rossendale

Hurrah! School’s out for summer, and that means six glorious weeks of fun and adventure. If you’re looking for exciting activities to fill your holidays, Rossendale has a plethora of options to keep you and your little ones entertained. From free balance bike sessions to thrilling mountain bike trails, there’s something for everyone in this picturesque valley. Here’s a guide to making the most of your summer in Rossendale.

Whitaker Park: Free Balance Bike Sessions

One of the standout events this summer is the free balance bike sessions at Whitaker Park, organized in collaboration with Rossendale Leisure Trust. This initiative allows your little ones to rent balance bikes for an hour at no cost. While they zoom around the park, you can relax and enjoy the scenery, knowing your child is safe and having a blast.

As an added bonus, you can leave your own bike or your children’s bikes with us for a free safety check. We’ll give them a once-over and make any minor repairs necessary to ensure they’re safe to ride. Please note that any major repairs may incur a cost.

After an hour of biking fun, head over to The Hub for a delightful lunch. Indulge in tasty French crepes, waffles, homemade soup, and delicious coffee and cake. The Hub is also equipped with games and drawing materials for your little ones, who can enter the “Draw a Bike” competition or enjoy a game of giant Connect Four.

The Hill: Skiing and Tubing Fun

If balance biking isn’t your thing, why not try skiing or tubing at The Hill (part of Ski Rossendale). This is a fantastic way to introduce kids and beginners to the slopes in a safe and fun environment. The dry slopes provide an excellent opportunity to learn skiing and snowboarding techniques or to simply have a blast tubing down the hill.

Lee Quarry: Mountain Biking Adventure

For those who crave a bit more adventure, Lee Quarry is a must-visit. Known for its mountain biking trails, Lee Quarry offers a range of tracks suitable for all skill levels. Whether you’re a beginner looking to explore easy rides or an experienced rider seeking a challenge, this place has it all. Fancy improving your golf swing? The driving range at Marl Pits Sports Centre is the perfect spot to practice. It’s a great way to spend a sunny afternoon, working on your technique and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

Clow Bridge Reservoir: Sailing & Watersports

For water enthusiasts, Clow Bridge Reservoir offers a fantastic setting for sailing and other watersports. Whether you’re an experienced sailor or a beginner looking to try something new, the reservoir provides a serene and scenic environment to enjoy a day on the water.
